SARDINE REPORT - 29 June 2010
|
Sadly – nothing to report as yet .
Only a very small shoal of 12 baskets netted at Bazely last week. Rumour has it that some enterprising sardine sellers are buying 5 Kg boxes, defrosting them and then passing them off as the real deal – so buyers beware!!!
The main shoal is still well South of Port St Johns – accompanied by thousands of birds and dolphins.
Reports from Aliwal Shoal – near Umkomaas – are that the water temperature has dropped to 19 degrees. Hopefully this will persist – this is the temperature that Sardines are comfortable with.
Elusive and unpredictable small fish – as always….
