Hints
Catching Game Fish such as Couta,
Dorado, Tuna and even Sailfish from a Fishing Ski is exhilarating
and challenging.
Getting kitted out doesn’t need to break the bank. The secret
is to keep it simple!
Bear in mind that all equipment takes a beating as it is continually
wet and occasionally gets a proper dunking .The following is a recommended
basic start-up list :
1. Fishing Ski & Paddle – Popes
or Fatboy by Canoe Sport – both
stable, reasonably
priced – we are Agents for both.
2. Life jacket – Canoeing
type as it is shorter.
3. Boat Rod – 4-8Kg approximately
1.90M length fitted with either a Penn 500 ,Daiwa SL175H, Firewolf 40/50H ,
Okuma Classic CL450C or 300C or similar. Line;10 - 12 Kg is plenty.
4. Approximately 4 Couta Traces and 4 Halco/Rapala
Lures.
5. Teza Trace Wrap Small for Couta Traces,
Teza Ski Compact for Halcos,
Teza Chestpack
Teza Rod and Paddle Leashes. Available at outlets
stocking Teza Tackle – see list.
6. Short Gaff and club.
7.Clothing – Do not consider any baggy clothing ! You need to be
as streamlined as possible - baggy clothing acts like an underwater
sail when “swimming” – especially in the surf.
Don't forget sun tan cream and water or energy drink.
